OK, for the most part you answered all my inquiries. I was refering to your fame points as to your overall score, so I guess I need to "brush up" on my dancing.
As to the wealth points, I'm not exactly sure how it's figured. I know part of it is the acreage you have plus some form of money score, but honestly the money score never matches anything I can remember, so that is strange. All in all, I do consider my 80 being decent being as I'm just a beginner.
Surgeon is the 4th or 5th highest if I'm not mistaken, so MAYBE your new game will achieve that on your difficult game. LOL My only gripe is when you go higher than apprentice to start you only end up with 100 bucks and with the price increase of the special items, that's the most difficult thing for me to deal with. I have yet to finish my journeyman game, but will eventually.
Be that as it may, THANKS!!!
Sincerely, Phil

I checked my old scores after posting this morning. I have two with Fame above 100 (most being in the 80s), with 111 being the highest. My wealth scores ranged from 13 to 22.
I'm not seeing your note below my reply while writing as I normally do, but I think that's everything.

Well, it's been awhile since this string's had any activity, so think I'll add something. I did manage to beat my 80, so my best score is now 87. Not TOO "shabby" !!!
One thing I also need to inquire about as it isn't "spelled out". That being the advantages and disadvantages of the eras in the game. I know in the manual it says to start with the default for your first few, but there is one thing not to my liking. That being so MANY "SMALL" ships. I mean, come on !!! Is there ANY era where there aren't so many?! I have enough trouble getting the 50 ton ships to engage, let alone those that are smaller. On top of that, all the "specialists" in the beginning seem to be on them. So, any ideas of how to get around these tiny things, as it IS driving me NUTS ?!
Sincerely, Phil

Congrats on your latest Pirates score Phil! As for 10-of-10 romance points...hmmm. I'd thought marriage gave you 10 but apparently not. On a guess, you may get more points for a more attractive wife...did you marry a "beautiful" one or one less comely? Another guess may be that you need to give her both ring and necklace as presents before you marry. That's all I can think of at present that might effect the points.

Well, it is perplexing! No, my wife isn't a "beauty", but if that's the prob, that sounds logical. As to giving both as presents BEFORE the wedding, I only get the option ONCE beofre. Not sure about after, but never gave the option twice and have given either /or as first gift. So, who can say for sure?!
The things is as to my 98 score, I'm at a stand still. Have EVERYTHING save Lost cities, Romance, and Wealth points maxed out. Trouble is I'm starting to get a bit old to seek and destroy ships especially those with decent money and in no way am getting an option for an additional piece to the map of the Aztec city. I did get the Inca city, and ONE piece of the Aztec, so I'm as we shall say, STUCK!!! All I can do now is HOPE she gives me another part of the map which seeems IF it happens just how many "crooks" do I have to bring to trial?!
Sincerely, Phil

I really haven't figured out how, why, or when you get a piece of a Lost Cities map. Rescuing a kidnapped governor's daughter has usually brought me a piece. Rescuing a relative has brought me a piece maybe 50% of the time. And as I stated, having a successful dance has brought me a few pieces...and I'm not sure every dance was with the wife. I'm not positive but I may have picked up a piece from an Abbott at one time or another too. I think a lot depends upon how many quests you currently have going and/or yet to do. Chances seem to be better when your quest queue is empty and most other major quests (named pirates, buried treasures, etc..) have been completed.
Sorry it's not much help I know, but it's the best I can do

No, it wasn't MUCH help, but SOME! You did give me some options to think about. As stated in my 98 score, I had ALL done save the cities, wealth, and romance. I did end up with pieces in this manner. First 2 relatives gave me the Marquis' hideout, the next 2 one complete map. Governor's daughter the next map; one piece. So, that brings this conclusion from what you said:
1. Dancing with another daughter (I avoided as thought a jealousy issue) 2. Visit the Abbots (also avoided as all I seem to get is helping immigrants, NO MORE)
So that does give me 2 additional options I hadn't thought of! So, we shall see! Thanks even though it may not seem like much, they ARE other options!!!
Sincerely, Phil

Yet another News Flash ;D!!!
This one may even inspire Redbirdy once again !!! As of 5pm Mountain time, on Sunday, March 20th, 2005, my NEW high is now, 114!!! So, great news for me at least. Did I manage to top you with THIS one Redbirdy ?! Hope I did AND it gets you back into it!
As to the breakdonw, I have EVERYTHING save wealth maxed out. Yes, even ALL the lost cities! Just can't seem to beat 12 in wealth hard as I try. So, seems the hightest score possible is 126. So, not too bad for one who's never played the original. Good luck to all who have it and until I get lucky enough to surpass my 12 in wealth, this WILL do AND NICELY !!!
Sincerely, Phil

Well GRATS Phil!!! I don't recall what my high score is but I'm fairly certain it's lower than 114, since I've never found all 4 lost cities. You're right...I may have to get back into Pirates and try to top you

Great! I shall be waiting to find out what I'll have to beat next, so do keep me inforumed. I'd like to find a way to get over 12 wealth though. Guess I need to plunder a bit more, but when tracking the Baron or Colonel, it AIN'T easy as they are in and out of the ports so quickly if you aren't at their next destination waiting for them. GRRRR!!! Anyway, I'll keep trying to improve as well, as 114 to 126 won't be TOO hard once I figure out how to get my wealth up to where you have been.
Sincerely, Phil

My two highest scores are
Apprentice Level: 111 Wealth 13 Rank 32 Pirates Retired 9 Treasures 9 Romance 10 Career - Governor
and
Journeyman Level: 110 Wealth 16 Rank 30 Pirates Retired 9 Treasures 9 Romance 9 Career - Governor
Thought I had a 100+ score at the next-highest level too but those were the only ones up there
