The direct link to their forums is:
forums.grouper.com/
There is a link to it under the HELP menu of the Group application in the top menubar to, when you have it running.
I had it running a good 12 hours or more per day last week, but no one did much of anything. So I'm running it a bit less until more people join the group or activity picks up. Too bad. I thought it was a good idea....just like I thought this forum was a good idea.

Now Keith!!!
Let us not get to the point where ill thoughts come to be. Firstly, neither you nor I knew just what to expect from grouper until you got things started. There are still possibilities, just as you know, it needs time. Secondly, this forum IS good. As with any other thing on the net things are only as active as those who know about them are. I'm doing my best. We just need more of the users to get involved OR get new users! This too is not the best time of year and is not the best time to make such evaluations either. MANY are on vacation, spending more time with their families and NOT on their computers and many other sorted reasons. So, don't be so hard on yourself. Both ARE good ideas and all will work out in the end!!!
Back to the subject at hand though. Thanks for the link and I WILL check it out and submit my suggestions. Elsewise I will just uninstall it. Not your fault, but I must do what I must do as I don't keep what I can't use with ease for me. So, we shall see!!!
Sincerely, Phil

On vacation? They must all be on a year 'round vacation then! I see people join the board so they can post but they rarely if ever do.
It's been pretty quiet her over the past few years I've had this forum running. Very discouraging. Even some of my old regulars never show up any more.
I have a feeling that my groups on Grouper are just not going to fly either. People don't want to try something new, or install framenet, etc.

I had a busier-than-usual EQ weekend so didn't get to try Grouper but to be honest, I'm also hesitating after what Grouper did to my boot-up routine. I've become very suspicious of programs that go into your setups and change things around to suit them. Grouper has already altered my start-up and I haven't even RAN it yet! What more will it do if I actually start it up? Okay, I may be a bit paranoid on the subject but I've had so many programs adjust things that they shouldn't even be thinking about adjusting...

It doesn't do anything else to your setup. It was my fault for not warning you about the need for framenet, but I've had it installed on my system for a number of months now and I worked out how to get around the logon screen at Windoes startup so it's as if it doesn't even exist on my computer. Plus, many applications out there are using it and you'll need it sooner or later anyway. Microsoft Passport program needs it, Grouper needs it, etc.
If it really bothers you download that TWEAKERUI program mentoined by that one guy and use it to change your logon back to normal. I manged to do it right from the XP USERACCOUNTS menus. I just don't recall the exact steps I took. All I remember that after I made a change it gave me a secondary popup menu where I had the opportunity to set the logon for a password prompt or to "remember me", IIRC. Can't swear to what the exact setting or description of it was, but once I changed that setting it didn't ask me for my name anymore and it was just the same as it was before I installed Framenet.

Framenet 1.1 is a Microsoft application that software developers can use to share a common library of resources for their programs. Grouper uses Framenet so either you had it installed already or it did it automatically for youl. If the download took longer than 15 mins on a dialup you probably had Frament downloaded automatically. Framenet by itself is a 19MB download. Grouper is just 1.7MB.
I downloaded a ATI driver update with the Catalyst control center and it required Framenet which I installed. When I did that it created a Framenet user account on my XP Pro system, and started prompting me for my user name when I rebooted the computer. I was able to remove the prompt from the startup by playing around with the Control Panel User Accounts options.
I forgot to warn Redbirdy about it and he installed Framenet and has to logon to his computer until he figures out how to disable that prompt.
