I know of KOH and Stronghold but I don't think I ever heard of KOTS before. Of course, it's not a game that I would be alerted to or watching for so that would explain my missing it somewhere along the line.

Yeah, the Stronghold series started shortly after Lords 2, IIRC as there was a "blow up" between some of the former Impressions people back then. Being Medieval is "my thing", I do keep apprised and have almost every game out there that can still be found. At this point I only know of two (or three if you include KotS) and those being Castle Strike and Settler's 5 (and possibly 6 when it comes out as well, from what I gather) yet to be obtained.
Pretty much this is why we get along so well. We just have different interests but do share similarities in all other regards (save ATI vs. nVidia of course and you being more for Rome where I prefer Medieval). Goes to show good friends have common interests and ideals, though not identical, as it gives us identities. Cheers!
Sincerely, Phil

My interest jumps right from the ancient world to the 20th century for the most part. I used to have a growing interest in the American Civil War as a kid, but that's gone dormant. I still find it interesting but I not as much as it used to be. Most of my games tend to center around ancient times and WWII, save for one or two deviations that manage to grab my interest now and then. I have a few "space" games like Star Trek Academy 2 and the Homeworld series. I don't have any current WW2 games though. The other deviation is World in Conflict which is modern day warfare.

I haven't played any WW2 games for a time. The last one I was fooling around with was the demo for a FPS game, I can't remember the name now, but I'm sure it's in one of the threads on the gaming threads of the board. You start out riding into a German held town in North Africa and have to fight your way through the town to the beach then up the beach to a couple of other points. It was pretty good at the time and I played it a lot. I'm not a big FPS gamer so I never bought the game.
I also fooled around with the Close Combat games, which were kind of nice because they were turn based, but used actual 3D units and not just markers or icons on a 3D terrrain. I never did buy the game though.
I just haven't found one that I like enough to spend the money on. And I've got all these games I keep getting from Sierra that I haven't even touched yet. I've got a stack of games that is almost 10 feet tall now.
Hmm....looks like we lost Jim (Redbirdy) again.....

Yeah, he did disappear just before we got started, but I'm sure he'll be back in due time.
I'm all but well aware of your "gifts" from Sierra and am somewhat envious of some I know you received as I'll shortly be buying a second copy of both Lords 2 and 3 so I can have a game with a friend while at home using my two current PCs, which as you know 3 will only let one CD key be online at a time. 2 will be another back-up as I know where to get it though not sure which English version it will be and I do also hope to get both for a friend from afar soon as well as gifts as he too loves Medieval and received copies from me of Shorun and the first Medieval -Total War games. Availability in his country is beyond limited, so I offer as gifts but need to watch total cost as he would have to pay taxes if I send too many at once. If you know where I can still get the US version of both or who to get in touch with, it would be appreciated.
As noted, I've not seen much of interest myself as well save those I mentioned above and only two of them at present are available. Budget is dictating at present, but I'll get all eventually time, availability and money permitting.
While WW2 and early US war games do interest me, I've not seen one to hold my interest as you are aware that I can't enjoy hardly any FPS games nor are they really to my liking save my hunting games. Even Sierra's R.E. Lee Civil War General, is not ideal and being an older game set to only be played in windowed mode, it is not enjoyable. The closest though not accurate would be C&C Red Alert, but some of the upgraded units make it false in accuracy, though an enjoyable game. If they ever do come out with a RTS game with controls similar to the TW games, I would be interested, but not really otherwise as warring and CBing don't mix in this case.
Off to bed now, so will check in tomorrow to see what else might be new. Been a long day already anyway.
Sincerely, Phil

I'll let you know if I spot any copies of Lords 2/3. I don't even think I can get a copy of Lords 3 as one of my Sierra perks anymore. I'll have to check the availability list that we look over for our picks.
Do some searches on Google for them too.
Have you ever checked out Sid Meiers Civil War games?

Noted and thanks! Yes, I know that availability is limited if even still available, so just thought with your connections you might be able to find one/two easier than I can. I've searched many times and have seen them but most are not the US English mostly that I've seen. I;ll keep looking though and I'm not one to use google so much anymore as I'm battling some eye issues that make it even more difficult to navigate at present.
No, I've not seen nor heard that Sideven did any Civil War games as I only knew of Pirates and the Civilization series. Might be worth looking into if they are RTS, but no idea of the titles unless you happen to know it/them. Will delve into that another time though as much going on at home right now not to be mentioned here that is making things difficult as well, but it will pass.
Sincerely, Phi

Thanks! Will bookmark those later as things to do today, but I'll just hope the version are US English and not the UK variety. I still have the official Lords 3 site bookmarked as well, so that I was aware of though not sure the purchase option still works, unless it defaults to the normal shopping sites like Amazon. Worth noting anyway and thanks again. Should you "ever" desire/need to relieve yourself of any of your gifts, you know what I'd like to have. (Chuckling)
Sincerely, Phil
