While I haven't seen any myself, I feel certain somewhere out there someone is producing paper model tanks.

Probbly. But not much use in gaming. Wind and feet would take care of them pretty easy. the thicker toy plastic and metal are the best balance of price durablity and visual look.
They really work good and look fine. Maybe I can find some pictures.
