I am trying to identify an irregular issue on my desktop.
Three is a small white dot in the upper left of my desktop. When I right click it and drag it pulls out to a box to slect things.
I cant recall for sure but I think this has occured before is it a Virus, Spyware, Or glitch?

I would head over to Mcafee.com or Norton's website and use their online virus scanner for a start. Just to be safe. While at McAfee enter "dot" in the virus search and it will pull up a list of known virii and worms that use dots.
We found 15 record(s) matching the following criteria: Virus name containing "dot".
Bouncing Dot Capture.dot Dot Killer DotEater DotKillerB Spyware.Dotcomtoolbar StarDot 600 StarDot 789 StarDot 801 TestDot.C W32.Dotjaypee@mm (NAV) W32.Dotor.A@mm (NAV) W32/DoTor@MM W97M/Bibdot WM/TestDot.A
Check your Task Manager processes list for anything unsual that you don't recognize. If you have a spyware program, run it. I would recommend the new Microsoft Anti-Spyware Program Beta 1 that is free for download mentioned in the other thread. It got top honors in Consumer Reports magazine when they tested anti-spyware programs.
If all else fails revert back to a restore point before the problem occurred.
Did you install any new software from questionable sources or visit a questionable site on the internet that may have installed something on your system? I've had several sites try just that in the past couple of months, luckily McAfees caught it each time and cleaned it for me.
Note: You can left click on the desktop and get a drag box under normal conditions too.
