A new Battle of Britain movie premiers tonight in Britain called "Dark Blue World". Here's a clip about it that found on classicfm.com, a british classical music station, which is going to air some war movie musci at 18:00 UK time today. "Dark Blue World is a poignant World War II romance which tells the story of a group of Czech pilots who flew for the British RAF during the Battle of Britain. It focuses on the friendship between two of the pilots who fall in love with the same English woman, played by Tara Fitzgerald and stars acclaimed British actors Charles Dance and Anna Massey, as well as a fabulous Czech cast including actors Ondrej Vetchy and Krystof Hadek. Dark Blue World re-unites the entire creative team for the Oscar-winning film Kolya (Best Foreign Language Film 1996) - producer Eric Abraham and the Czech director and co-producer Jan Sverak. Dark Blue World is actually written by the director's father, Zdenek Sverak, who wrote and starred in Kolya." It does look interesting. Lots of nice Spitfire shots in flight. Digital He111s in mass formations.
Funny how the Czech language trailer is more subdued and pastoral as they guy narrates his thoughts about the events and the US version trailer is more "heroic" with pumped up music and a different approach to the narration entirely.

The new movie "Dark Blue World" about Czechs in the RAF during WW2 uses many rendered aircraft in its combat scenes. The official website www.darkblueworld.com provides a link to the a site that handled the special effects for the movie. At that site they have a storyboard and explanation of how they build such a scene or aircraft for the movie. Here's an example of the HE-111: A wire model: A shade model: A rendered model: A rendered model with composite background: A rendered model with composite background:

i bought it from amazon.com , its a good movie, but the action scenes are pretty short. however there is a bunch of them, but they are split up by love stories. some of the camera shots are simply killer, sometimes hard to tell whats fake and whats real. in a few scenes u see the shell casings falling from the wings.
