Yes, it is very good. The US side of the story is a bit stilted and stiff compared to the Japanese directed segments of the movie. Kurosawa, the original director in charge of the Japanese half of the movie had a script that totalled up to four hours. He wanted everything correct. He held up production for an entire day because the room in the scene of the shinto shrine the Japanese pilots were worshipping at was painted the wrong shade of white. This caused the studio to replace him with a more compliant director. Kurosawa only shot 8 minutes of film and none of it made it into the movie. The Japanese planes, created from old AT-6 Texan trainer aircraft, were so highly modified that they had to be reclassified "experimental" by the FAA and were not allowed to fly over populated areas. You should get the special edition of this movie. It has an interview with many of the people behind the scenes of shooting this movie. You can listen to the interview while the movie plays. Or just play the movie, of course. Also, this movie never had a soundtrack release. At most you only find 5 tracks on the tailend of a Patton CD. Recently, in 1995, Jerry Goldsmith directed a re-recording of the entire movie soundtrack score including many of the special cues from the movie such as the hurried star spangled banner and the hawaiian radio music to name a couple. You can get this sondtrack from a place that specializes in movie music called Film Score Monthly, www.filmscoremonthly.com. It's a limited 3000 copy edition so if you want it don't wait. I got my copy a few months ago.

Tora Tora Tora. That was a memorable movie for me as well and not just for film content. I saw this one about 28 years ago as a date with my then girlfriend, now wife. I knew she was the one for me when she sat through that one and then later the Alex Guiness movie - Hitler the last ten days....
