Hitler's Victory
Sunday, May 11, 3:30 a.m.
Computer graphics, a propaganda film and blueprints of the British resistance movement give a scenario in which the Nazis conquer Britain during World War II. {CC, Stereo}
Parental guidance rating: TVPG
Unfortunately, the PBS network is not distributing this program and only my local PBS station is airing it, but check your listings just in case.
It's a program that present's alternate history. Hitler's invasion of England proceeds, captures a foothold in southeast England. The Royal family evacuates to Canada, London falls, resistance in northern England continues for a while. The Duke of Windsor is installed as Prince Regent and a English politician heads the government in "Free England" while the Germans have direct control of London and SE England. A armistice is signed and the war in the west is over. Hitler is then free to launch his offensive in the East on time, since the British front in the Balkans will not occur and the Germans sweep into Moscow and the Soviets collapse and surrender. The Germans test their atomic bomb in Siberia and the US develops their own atom bomb and the war comes to a halt for the time being. Werner von Braun continues in his post in Germany and Germany lands the first man on the moon in the late sixties.
It's done very well using stock film footage, some film shot with re-enactors, inverviews with people, and information from captured German documents after the war prepared for the invasion.
I'm going to be ready to record it this time. Hey, 3rd times the charm!
