If you have STARZ on the Cable or Dish you will find past episodes of this great old TV show called "COMBAT" that ran for 5 seasons. These run at 12 noon (11:00 central) every week day. On Memorial Day they ran all day finishing with a wonderful "Memorial Making of Show". If you like this show go to www.CombatFan.com and prepare for sensery overload. |

Loved Combat! when it first aired back in the 60s in it's original B&W. Then later in color as color tv's became more common.
I used to watch it regularly then and then later in re-runs and again in the 80s and 90s when it was re-run again on local UHF stations.
One of my old buddies was kind enough to make a tape of 6 episodes for me when that station finally stopped broadcasting them. It's been quite a while since I've seen it.
Since I don't have cable or satellite, I won't be seeing it any time soon.
Other shows that were its contemporary in prime time when Combat! was in its prime were:
Garrison's Guerilla's (A tv rip-off of the Dirty Dozen)
The Rat Patrol
12 0'clock High

I have now seen 96 of 152 episodes and have been surprised by the consistantly high quality of the shows. The website has been many evenings of enjoyment too.
If you missed the anniversary show you missed some great "Combat!" moments from long ago. The "Action Channel on "Starz" has been running 2 to 3 shows every day for some time now. I am hoping to see them all. My cat loves the show and comes to get me every day at 11:00 am so we can watch it together (he doesn't understand about VCR's). My long suffering wife sure gets a kick out that.

They used to air it here on a local UHF chanel on weekends in the early morning, but stopped doing that a couple years back. I'd love to see it on a regular basis again. I wonder if they ever put it on DVD. Hmmmm....I'll have to look around.
