Well, the initial investment in R/C if you are just getting started is a bit steep, but once you have the radio gear and the batteries, etc. you are only talking about the cost of the R/C model itself.
I don't know the price of this big scale R/C Hummer, but I'm just guestimating that you are talking somewhere in the $100-$150 range. Not too bad for R/C really. There are cheaper R/Cs out there but not in that size or quality usually. I'm mean these types of vehicles actually have functioning shock absorbers and a real suspension.
That list of R/C tanks has a few small scale tanks that run about $50 each. But these are usually the types that have very limited function and operate on the "kiddie bands" of 27Mhz and 49Mhz primarily. The good R/Cs will have FM radio gear and operate in specific radio channels.

You could have seen the same one, but I can't imagine it running $250 for this particular model. But you never know.... Still cheaper than the tanks.
It would be cool if they came out with a RC model of the new 7 ton Oshkosh trucks being used by the military in the same scale.
