This version of the Opel Blitz was created due to the awful condition of the ground the Wehrmacht experienced in Russia after it found that lack of roads and winter made for an impassable combination.
The Maultier maintained the same loaded capacity of other Opel Blitz trucks and offered bonus in operational practicallity with the simple concept of adding tracks to the rear drive shaft and axle.
