Limited Edition An aluminum gun barrel for a more realistic and powerful look! With the popularity of 1/35 scale military miniature series tanks with metal tracks, Tamiya goes that one step further adding an aluminum gun barrel for a more realistic and powerful look. Tamiya is proud to present a special edition of the 1/35 scale Tiger I Late Production. This kit features all the intricate detail, accuracy and quality of the original kit but includes metal tracks and a beautifully turned aluminum gun barrel for that added feel of realism. With 100mm thick armor and an 88mm main gun, the Tiger I was the superlative tank of its time. Over 1,300 Tiger I tanks were produced in all, with "late production" identifying models produced after January 1944. Major changes to late production turrets included commander's cupola with seven vision ports, an anti-aircraft machine gun ring, a side pivoting hatch, a loader's hatch with periscope, internally mounted "S" mine chargers, and the smoke exhaust outlet relocated to the center of turret. Late production Tigers were also mounted with steel rimmed resilient road-wheels like those used with the Tiger II and Panther tanks, late production Tiger I tanks played a major role in the Battle of Normandy. cool maybe one day ill put this one together, as im sure its not cheap I am pretty sure there are white metal parts out there with which to modify plastic models of the Tiger. It might be cheaper to buy the plastic kit then look for some metal part accessories like tracks, etc. Not sure that the aluminum gun barrel would really make that much of a impact on the model's appearance though.
