1/48 U.S. Medium Tank M4 Sherman Early Production 66th Armored Regiment (Finished Model) A Long and Glorious HistoryThe 66th Armored Regiment is the oldest armored unit in the United States Army, with heritage dating from the innauguration of the Tank Service in February 1918. After serving with distinction in France during the First World War, the 66th again saddled up for overseas duty, landing M4 Sherman tanks during the amphibious invasion of French Morocco in December 1942. The 66th fought through North Africa, and took part in fierce fighting during the invasion of Sicily. Going into action on the European front, the 66th landed on the shore of Normandy on June 9th, 1944, subsequently moving inland to fight the determined defenders among the difficult bocage (hedgerow) landscape.
