There just aren't enough movies centered on the Pacific theatre. The Thin Red Line and Windtalkers had some good combat sequences but overall they disappointed me. With the Band of Brothers team doing this, I know it will be great. I don't know if it will be as good as BoB however because that was based on real people and real events. From what I've heard, this will be fictional.

Yes, it will be fictional but then again so was "Band of Brothers."

Why do you say "Band of Brothers" is fictional?

Why do you say "Band of Brothers" is fictional? Because it's not about actual individuals...that makes it fictional.

Sorry Keith, but I have to strongly disagree with you on whether BOB is fictional. If you read Stephan Ambrose's book you will find that it is based on personal interviews by Ambrose, his son, and employees of The D-Day museum and The Eisenhower Library with the surviving members of Easy Company of the 506 PIR. Knowing how the the military services are notorious for messing with the facts to cover up or promote their agendas, I feel that BOB is not fictional in the normal sense. I am sure there are errors due to normal human brain functions and the fact that much time has passed, but I think most of the content is pretty true and believable. Lastly, Dick Winters clearly states in the TV program interviews that what you see is very close to what happened, thats more than enough for me.

Sorry Keith, but I have to strongly disagree with you on whether BOB is fictional. If you read Stephan Ambrose's book you will find that it is based on ...... That makes it fiction. If it were history or biographical, it would contain actual names of actual soldiers not just a compilation of various soldiers. It doesn't matter how many interviews he did, the fact is that the characters of the story are completely fictional.

You lost me there, the names of the characters are the names of the real people who served in the 101st AB/ 506PIR. The only exception to this are a very few characters whose relatives might have been offended by their conduct or other issues and therefore a fictious name was used. The final episode shows the interviews with the veterans and I can quarantee you that an actor played each of them using their name and attempted to show them as they were in the 1940's.

Hmm...I must have mistaken the story then. I have yet to see the program since I don't have cable and haven't come up with the $$ to buy it on DVD. If the characters were playing actual people then it may not be fiction after all provided that they were recreating actual events.
