www.americasarmy.com/ paid for by the taxpayer and the US ARMY. its based on the unreal engine. they deputed the announcement at e3 a few weeks ago. will be out in early july if stays on target. its totally free. u can pre-order it on the right side of the page. it was partly developed as a recruiting tool. It is a first person shooter, with one or two new features added. for the first time i know of, hand signals will be used for communication in the game, as well as other types, and weapon jams do occur. Im sure we all will get some join the army spam for signing up. but i dont mind. ;D

I know this is an old thread and the game has been out for quite some time, but I must comment on this. This is your tax dollars at work, ladies and gentlemen, all $8million of it. They claim this wasn't a recruitment scheme, however the money for development was billed to the recruiting budget. I guess the "GoArmy.com" internet site and "An Army of One" ad campaign and "Basic Training" tv show weren't enough advertising for recruitment. This is money that could have gone to improve single soldier barracks, renovating 40yr old enlisted housing, getting food stamps to those who need them in bases overseas (currently not available)...this could have gone to make sure there is a WIC program on every Army base, ensuring all chow halls have working equipment, and the list goes on and on. The Army talks of improving quality of life and yet spend $8mil on a computer game turning it into yet another buzz word that means nothing. I refused to get this game when it came out, although all my online buddies did. I complained to the Army and Air Force Times. I wrote letters to my congressman. Maybe it accomplished nothing, however the Army didn't meet their recruitment goal after throwing all that money at the problem and the USAF, with their few and far between tv ads and their better QoL, had met theirs by April. Sometimes throwing money at an issue isn't the answer. I'll pack up my soapbox now

I did download the game a week ago. But I can't install it tue to the lack of space required.
I saw it on the news and decided to get it before the liberal lawyers seeking an injunction against it's distribution gets approved by some judge.
