I got a invite from Gamespy just the other day to help them beta test their online servers for CODWW2 and a few others. You have to be in their Founders Club (paid subscription). I got a cuurtesy account from Impressions to help them debug the Lords 3 Beta so I could file reports on the Gamespy beta site.

Unfortunately, I'm still on a 56K modem so most online game play is not worthwhile for me and downloading a 173MB demo is out of the question.
