Children of the Nile

Those that know me know I do not just play wargames, but have an very keen interest in citybuilding games. Particularly those games produced the the Impression and BreakAway Games development teams at VU/Sierra. A year ago a large number of the Impressions team left and formed their own new team called Tiltled Mill.

I have been watching for signs of life on their website and see that they have finally announced the name of the game they have been working on in privately for the past year. It's a 3D citybuilder called Children of the Nile based on life in ancient Egypt.

Some of you are going to think "Oh, its just a remake of Pharaoh", but you'll be wrong. This one relies on its people as the major asset in the game. In short you buid the city but its your citizens that have make it work instead of just providing animations to your city streets.

Nope, I haven't been around anywhere too much. I've cooled off on EverQuest since a lot of my friends have dropped from the game lately (including Frank Boesch), and that's taken a lot of wind out of my EQ sails... but I haven't yet managed to get back into my old routine of checking in here or Exiles on a regular basis. I sort of moved straight from EQ to Diablo 2, guess I needed that RPG fix .

I haven't been playing much of anything specific very much. I was playing Flying Fortress Mighty 8th for a while but seemed to have drifted away for a time. Flew through several full tours of duty there. I play an occasional game of Pharaoh, Caesar III, etc. when someone asks a question on the VU boards about it just to kill time. I've even gone back to playing SWAT 3 when I get the urge to shoot something RPG style.

I've picked up many new games as part of my freebies like Homeworld 2, Warcraft III: Frozen Throne, Counter Strike Condition Zero. I may load up CSCZ sometime soon just to take a look at what its about.

Other than that I've been spending a lot of time patrolling various message boards and hanging out over at the CotN's forum for the time being.
