In November, 2004, Shockwave Productions Inc. made an announcement that they had obtained a 5 year contract through Atari and have obtained the source code to "B-17 Flying Fortress: The Mighty Eighth". The project is being called "B-17 Flying Fortress: The Legend Returns", which will include improvements and expansion to the existing code, as well as activating the multiplayer functions to fly in real-time with your friends. For more information and updates regarding this project, please visit the Shockwave Productions Inc. website.

I checked up on this one the other day and saw that they have some in-game video clips up for download at their website. I'm still downloading the the two big ones that are about 46MB each, and have only seen the shorter 12MB download of some aircraft belly landings. The belly landings shows a B-17 belly landing and then a He-162 belly landing. Each plane is shown from first the outside and then later the cockpit viewpoint during the landing attempts.
They aircraft looks pretty good, the B-17 sounds great, but the He-162 sounds a bit more like a prop plane from the cockpit view than a turbojet powered aircraft. Hopefully that will be corrected.
