Has anyone tried this game yet? Battlefield 1942, that is. It looks fairly ambitious in scope, I was wondering how it got pulled off.

i have it and i find it a lot of fun. ITs a mix of a fps with a 3rd person arcade style. its not a serious style. its mainly an on line game, but u can play single player or make your own lan game with bots. Some of the 3d models are really good, and some are a little bland. everything you can drive or fly handles a little differently. I really suggest downloading either the single player or multiplayer demo. or look for a game magazine that has one on the demo disc included. ITs a different way to play a war game. some vehicles are multi-crewed but some are not. teamwork is fun when it works. Tiger tanks and M-10 td are a one man operation, Panzer iv and shermans are 2 man. hanomags and halftracks can carry 4-5 guys. a few pilot and tailgunner aircraft. one or two maps with a b-17 crew of 3 only. some carrier and cruiser maps. landing craft and such. There are medics, and engineers who fix damaged things or lay mines or tnt. snipers and assault and antitank troops. fixed defense and mg towers sometimes. When it gets going its a lot of mayhem. but i stress try the demo or both demos as the game is just like them, except there are more vehicles and maps. In the arcade aspect only infantry and sometimes jeeps take one hit to kill. everything else takes multiple hits. any thing above a rifle can kill a tank. the aircraft take awhile to get used to, u can fly them with the mouse and keyboard, and can fly 1st or 3rd person views, with and without cockpit. if u land u can get rearmed and in some hangars and parts of the airfield fixed.

I was just visiting the gigex.com site today and noticed that they did have the SP demo there for download. The MP demo is here. They also have the America's Army and Operation Flashpoint: Resistance demos.
