Hopefully this isn't a FAQ, but on a board with a name like "Panzerblitz" I have to ask why there's never been a somewhat faithful computer version of the boardgame classic? Maybe there has been, and I missed it, but after the raft of poor computer games issued by Avalon Hill & with their subsequent demise/assimilation by Hasbro, it doesn't seem like there'll ever be an "official" version now.

No we talk about all things here despite the name "Panzerblitz".
Avalon Hill as we knew it, has ceased to exist and is now part of Hasbro. I guess AH didn't have the resources to do it and Hasbro doesn't sound interested.

parts of AH became part of Wizzards of the Coast wich in turn became part of Hasbro.
Otehr parts of AH were boght by Avalanche press and Multiman publishing. Multiman reprints Advanced Aquad Leader and holds the rights to Panzerblitz.
They do absolutely nothing with it as I see. Avalanche press has made AH's Third Reich game and thats about it.
There is a PC game published by Talonsoft called the Campaign Series. It is very much panzerbltiz on PC. At the time though there was no way to use the Panzerblitz name even if they wanted to. So they used the Campaign series, but it was inteneded to be Panzerbltiz goes PC. Its a very good system. I have had it since its realese in the the late 90's and still have never tired of it or came close to playing all of the scenrios included with it.

Welcome to the board. I haven't played games like those in quite some time. I still have all my old AH games that I bought between 1970 and the mid-80s, but they sit on the shelf for the lack of time to play them. I stopped buying the board games when they started to run more than $25 a pop. They used to run about $12 when I started buying them.
I moved on to Steel Panthers and had a great time with that game but like all things I eventually tired of playing it. I have the SP World @ War and SPWW@ 3rd party versions a play for a while but soon got burned out on them as well.

Talonsoft's game I felt was much nicver then the SP games in general. Certinaly superior graphicaly IMO. You could have a 3D top down view instead of the 2D of SP. The pieces look like GHQ minis mush more then SP did. You could also have larger and games then just 250 some tanks if you wanted. The there was an optional 2D view that looked very much like Panzerblitz. The system is consistant and recquires no upgrades or 400 meg downloads.. The editors are easier to use and come standard. I enjoy it and with the countless scenarios incliuded and more being made by players. It never gets old. Also the multiplayer option alows for 16 people to play in one game. Thats a load of fun. Set up roger wilco base station and you cna have team chat.

Yea, I remember some of those Talonsoft games from the screenshots, but I never bought one of them. The only Talonsoft game I think I have is Battleground Ardennes.
