www.planetbattlefield.com/mapcontest/me and a friend want to make a map for this game, he knows coding and other stuff, i dont but want to help so i can learn in the process. Dieppe is one of the possible maps we are thinking of. so on a side note, if u could play a battle from WW2 , in almost any battle, what would you want to play or see. any ideas or comments would be appreciated. Im basically in charge of all the research. I was thinking of a Burma map as well , like merrils marauders.

There were three major full scale raids on the German occupied coast during WW2. The first at Vaagso, Norway, the other was at St. Nazaire, and finally Dieppe.
Any of those would be good. Vaagso took place in 1940, I believe. St. Nazaire was the effort to disble the dry docks there to keep the German navy from servicing the Bismarck, Tirpitz, Scharnhorst, and Gneisenau from those shipyards. It involved ramming the ex-US navy four stack destroyer renamed HMS Campbletown crammed with timed explosives into dry dock gates.
There are many factual actions you could base a scenario on. For a list of those I suggest paying a visit to old Steel Panthers websites and see what battles have been modelled in the litterally hundreds of custom scenarios players have designed there. Pick some good ones then do some background research on the one you want to give a go at.

i think i messed up the dieppe raid with the movie for St nazierre. Cause i remember them using the destroyer in the movie. ill take a look at them as well. at first we were thinking a USA or British map vs the Japanese. but I mentioned some of the things used at Dieppe and he warmed to that idea. But nothing is set in stone yet. although we have only a month to do everything i think
