I had been away from flight sims for awhile, but a few weeks back we played a lan party with nothing but flight sims, some ww2, modern day and space. it was a blast. it was the first time i got to play IL-2 besides the demo, and while i dont play it all the time, its my flight sim of choice. its stunning graphics sure dont hurt, and the amount of aircraft types u can fight agnaist is great. only 2 dislikes i have are, there are not many multiplayer missions, especially co-op and it limits the types of aircraft u can fly. least when u first start it seems. u can play multiplayer co-op missions which is killer. the game is almost like single player. u and however many friends pick your side and then u pick your aircraft. whichever planes are left get computer pilots. we had italian AI fighters with our flight of 109's attacking russian bombers, or a flight of IL-2;s trying to torpedo attack shipping, or strafe ground targets and fend off fighters. one drawback is it can get jerky on slower machines. but when the enemy flies at your base, the flak is just intense, it looks and sounds awesome, and the amount of aa guns on the ground sends up tracers with a fury. u can literally watch the planes get shot to pieces. u can also see sunlight through damaged pieces of the plane

Glad you finally made it to the board!  I've heard about IL-2. I'm kind of worried my system can't handle it though. I'll have to see if they have a demo. |

i had to re register, some reason it would let me log in, but not let me post, would error out, oh well. there is a demo out for the game, i suggest downloading and trying it. on a athlon 700, with 512mb ram, and gf2 it can be choppy. but that was not all default settings. on my main system it runs like butter. but the demo will defintely let you know how your rig fairs. its worth the attempt, is a great game

Ah well that pretty much rules me out. I'm just on my trusty old P2/450 which I recently upgraded to 384MB, and only have a 8MB video card.

that was pretty cool. i like that song but dont know the name of it, There is a Aliens video from the movie, i think was on the laserdisc or something using that song that pretty cool as well.
