I love my Steel Beasts and whenever I am bored I can just go to Mission Editor and create my own mission. Its an enormous amount of fun sitting in a wood picking off soviet hard and b-skin vehicles long range... Also SH2, USAF, RB3D, Delta Force (1,2,3,) Rainbow 6 (all) EAW, RB3D and Medal of Honor! I am looking sooo forward to Steel Beasts 2 and have seen several screen shots. The Beta models look really good. Out in 2003. I don't know if I enjoy Panzer Commander or Armored Fist anymore..after Steel Beasts nothing is the same! I might load it again and see what happens. Are there any new upgrades?

I've had the "Steel Beasts" demo on my hard drive now for almost a year, or close to it. The demo is so much fun I've never bought the full game. ;D
It is great way to kill a couple of hours when I get bored with everything else.
The editor looks great. I've tinkered a bit with the one in the demo but haven't really gone into it in much detail. I like the fact that you can create the scenery than jump to the game from the editor to check out that area you just created.
A long time ago I did a set of Team Yankee files for the Novalogic tanksim "Armored Fist" (the original, not AF2.) I'd probably be tempted to redo them for SB if I ever get the full game. I see that someone out there has done at least one Team Yankee custom mission for SB, but mine would be the full set based on the entire book just as I did for "Armored Fist".
I also created Team Yankee missions for the SSI tank strategy wargame Steel Panthers 2.

I carried the demo for awhile too--before the game went retail. When it did my world of armour opened into something incredible! I am in version 1226 right now and the game just gets better. The sounds inside and outside the tank while under fire are so realistic especially when artillery is coming over to strike the target you have just called in. And then when tank shells whizz over your turret you can heat it alright. The best though is doing the gunnery-using laza or just straight 'eye' shooting! Trying to judge the aim-off point when a BTR-80 is running 1,000 metres away at speed becomes and art! No its just too good and the difference between the demo and the game is that you will be faced with mass-tank attacks in Europe or the desert and there is nothing more exciting thatn seeing the Soviet armour bearing down and you know you only have 27 Sabot rounds and 15 HEAT in the mags! Every sshot counts and you gotta move--or get taken out. Even the infantry have bazookas.

The sounds of artillery barrages in the game are the best I've heard. The other sounds are great too. I've heard more than one Sabot, Heat, or missile whiz by. Lots of great little details in this game. Damage from tree branches and you have to remember to pull your head in or slow way down when passing through a stand of trees. I love it when a enemy turret flies into the air from a hit or after its ammo cooks off. The infantry in the demo have strange habits. They'll always try to run for the treeline no matter how far away it is and will usually get cut to pieces in the process.

Just picked up STEEL BEASTS in a bargain bin at my local game store, $9. It is everything you guys said it was and more. What a rich a user modifable environment, you can spend hours on this game and never repeat an action. This was clearly created with the input of experienced tankers, I did this for real for three years and this gets real close to the experience. Lase and Blase guys and Keith break a Tener and broaden your horizons from the Demo. This one is a sure keeper! It is alot of fun to shoot up "Sprocket Fodder" (Infantry), you know how us tankers are..... ;D
