I'm still playing the Steal Beasts demo from Strategy First. A modern tank battle sim that is excellent and it's only a 20MB download!
I just downloaded another demo yesterday, Rails Across America. It's very much like the old Microprose "Railroad Tycoon", but it doesn't require train routing or placing more than one train on a line as RRT did. I'm still trying to get the hang of the financial and infuence aspects of the game but have managed to take over a shortline RR through some "dirty tricks".
If you want a nice easy going sim that is not a clickfest I'd recommend this game. The demo file is going to be hard to find as the only mirrors on the official website no longer list it and FilePlanet is ridiculous with 250 slots per mirror and over 500 people waiting to download. I found a place in Sweden (I think) by using Google that had the newer 46.2MB demo.
