I just watched "Hidalgo" on DVD that we rented today. It just came out today on DVD.
Excellent movie. Not a war movie, but still very good and based on the life of the man portrayed in the movie.
If you haven't seen it, go out an rent it. Well worth the time spent watching it.
One note of interest, I watched the video "Second Hand Lions" not too many months ago. And in that story one of the two old brothers were telling a story to their young nephew. In it the Robert Duvall character related a story that seemed very similar to that of "Hidalgo", but with some minor changes. I wonder if the writer was familiar with the the story behind "Hidalgo" when he wrote "Second Hand Lions". While watching "SHL" I told my wife that someone should make a movie of that Duvall character's story. Then with in a day or so the ads for "Hidalgo" hit t.v.
I couldn't help noting the similarities between the two stories it was that striking.
