My brother is still an officer in the USAF but he has failed (washed out of?) flight school. This is a big blow for him. Flying is all he ever wanted to do. I don't think he has any other interest in the military. He has a degree in aerospace engineering. He only got the degree so he could get a comission and fly airplanes. I don't know what in the heck he'll do now.
I suppose it's not the worst thing in the world- to be a butterbar in the USAF. Hopefully he'll make the best of the situation. IMHO he should get as much additional education as they'll pay for. He wanted to make a career out of the military, but I imagine he'll try to get out ASAP.

I don't know yet. I'll find out when he comes home for Christmas. I know his first flight instructor was a real bitch- literally. And she accused him of doing things none of us (including my grandfather) have heard of before, like "using too much oxygen". He did better with the other flight instructors. Stuff like that is what kept me from ever considering a stint in the service. Galland

He thinks choppers are a death trap. I guess he's right, but if I wanted to fly, I'd go that route. But he's bowed out. He's going to be an engineer of some sort. I think he's going to work on weapon systems. It would be neat if he winds up with the YF-22 program. Galland
