It seems there is something wrong with the small avatar pictures provided by proboards. When you select one from their list provided the image fails to appear in your profile or next to your messages.
Here is a simple workaround.
To use one of the provided images just use the personal image line below the avatar selection list.
Check the box and enter the URL of:
proboards8.com/boardimages/avatars/
Then add the name of your selected image off their list to the end of the url.
So "angryboy.gif" would be:
proboards8.com/boardimages/avatars/angryboy.gif
Save the change and the image will now appear as it should.
If you want to use a image from elsewhere the maximum size that will be displayed is 100x100. So if your image is an odd size it may not look right when displayed on the board.
