I went to Vegas for a few days on vacation and i went here . www.thegunstorelasvegas.com/rental.htmi rented the Thompson submachine gun fired it full auto, it was a blast, i orginally picked the mp-40 but it had to go into the smithy to be fixed. I fired 2 clips on bursts or full auto. I was having trouble picking the next gun, but i decided to rent the M249 SAW . i fired 100 rounds out of this monster. Not sure how much it ways, i fired 50 rounds with the bipod, and 50 rounds standing holding it up. Not much kick at all, even at full auto. Having fired a ar-15 a few times, was not expecting much kick. ITs very accurate, deployed or not, i think i missed the target only 15-20 times, and not by more than 2 inches. IT was not cheap , but i was on vacation and said the hell with it im gonna have some fun.

Cool. The wife would never let me spend money on something like that. Someone should tell those guys that the MP40 is not a "Schmeisser". They are two totally different weapons. Schmeiser was a less reliable design that the Germans used as early as the invasion of Norway but later abondoned it in favor of the MP39/40 design, which was more reliable. I just sent them a email.

well even if the nickname was for another weapon, i would not be surprised if it was mistakingly called that by GI's , ive read accounts and seen documentaries where lots of other equipment was mistaken for various things, especially all german tanks becoming a tiger tank. but for small arms ,, maybe ,maybe not. he said it was a original mp-40 from 1942

Yea the name Schmeisser stuck pretty much throughout the war, but the actual Schmeisser was only used for a extremely brief period in the very opening of the war and was quickly replaced.

I haven't shot NFA weapons in a long time. I've thought about saving up for a ~$3k MAC variant of some sort. I think I can hack the cost, but I don't like the paperwork. The idea of having to crawl on bended knee and beg the CLEO for his John Hancock on the forms is revolting to say the least. Galland
