I hope everyone had a good Christmas and a reasonably inebriated New Years' celebration. As for myself, I fell to sleep round about 9:30pm and missed the televisied ball-dropping chaos they like to show on TV.
I gave my mom a fountain pen, grandma got a nice robe and my brother got a Galco revolver holster. I received a nice chamois flannel shirt from my mom and my brother... well.. he gave me a set of novelty chocolates shaped like whisky bottles. Go figure.

Happy new year to you also!
My wife was giving me no ideas, so I told here to pickup something for herself, which she did. A blouse I think. I took a shot in the dark and got her some new pajamas and a blouse. She got me Rome Total War, which I said I wanted, and ordered some DVDs, which still have not arrived.
I've been down with a server cold for the past week since Xmas. Sore throat, congestion, raw nose, and hacking cough. I'm starting to recover only now.

I ordered an AR15 lower before Christmas with the impression that it would arrive in time for Christmas. It didn't. Doh! I had the same thing during Christmas. It ruined my holiday. The recovery time took longer than the actual sick time. I started to feel 100% well four days days ago. Everyone is getting it. My co-workers have had it and my mom has it right now. Try gargling with salt water and shoot it up your nose with an ear plunger. It'll provide some relief and speed up recovery.

I'm going to get on Amazon's case about those DVDs. It's been nearly three weeks since they were ordered.
My cold or whatever it was is getting better. I felt really bad yesterday, rundown and tired all day. I feel much better today and my throat isn't sore any more. I've still got a little nasal congestion. I use nose drops for clearing up that sort of thing. Neosenephrine which is a acid base product. It dries my sinuses right up. I've used this stuff since I was a kid. Both my dad and I suffered with hay fever in the fall and this stuff kept us breathing.

hope you all are feeling better and wish you guys a belated Merry X-mas and Happy New Years!
ive not been buying any movies in 3 months, since i signed up for netflix. I tried blockbuster online to . but for me netflix is superior in several categories. I have noticed both bestbuy and circuit city have been have several war movies for under $10 bucks in the last few adds.
i have 300 spartans that just came in the mail to check out. as far as video games Half-life 2 and Tribes Vengeance are the only ones i could afford lately.

Well, my cold lingers on. I've been coughing up strings of mucus for days. It's not as bad as before but it is rather tiring.
My DVDs the wife ordered were being held up by Amazon to ship because one wasn't in stock. So we had them ship what they did have and hopefully they should be here this coming week.
I bought 300 Spartans a few months ago. I hadn't seen that movie since the 60s. Not the same sort of spectacular as the modern Gladiator and Troy epics, but still a good movie. I'd like to see a remake of it with all the modern digital trickery used to create huge battles.
Walmart is in the online movie rental business too. They are usually charging about $15 a month from what I've seen. Besides Blockbuster joining in, Amazon is set to start renting movies too for around $17 a month.
The only new game I've gotten lately is Rome Total War. So far I love it.

Ive not tried walmart out. i might give it a try to see if its better than netflix. Blockbuster was taking to long to ship my movies and recieve them when i sent them back. and they were only 30 miles away. Netflix has a warehouse in my city. And with netflix i have only gotten one damaged dvd, but had 3-4 already with blockbuster. and i get new releases basically right away from netflix were blockbuster was having me wait and wait and wait. I know the service will be different for everyone. blockbuster gives u two free in store movie rentals a month and some other coupons from time to time. they lowered their service to either 14.99 or 15.99. while netflix is 17.99. but i upped to the 5 movies at a time option. I dont go out to much anymore. occasionally i see a movie at the theatre.

We've got three or four video store withing 5 mins driving time of our house, one of which is Blockbuster. My wife is usually out and about so she picks the DVDs.
There's also a Walmart at about the same distance so I'm pretty well covered.
I haven't been to a theater in years. My knees just hurt too much to walk anymore than 50 feet and forget about standing in a line to buy tickets, etc. Renting DVDs is so much cheaper and you watch as many times as you want before the due date.

I get DVDs at good prices fairly often by going to either half.com/eBay or deepdiscountdvd.com; Amazon is the next resort if they come up dry. Likewise with books, I always try half.com/eBay and bookfinder.com before I go to Amazon or Barnes & Noble.

Last year I think it was Best Buy had a deal where you could get three DVDs for $30. They run a good promotion like that every now and then.

The Hollywood Video chain stores here also sell used DVDs, often at 3 for $30. Limited selection but if there's something you didn't want to pay $17 for two people to see once in a theater it's a good deal. Blockbuster has good deals sometimes too.
