Today is the officially stated release date for this game nationwide. You should now be able to find Children of the Nile on store shelves in most places.

There have been a number of reports from people that pre-ordered from EBGames that their game hasn't shipped yet either.

Maybe there was a screw-up in getting copies to EBgames... I checked my order status and it's "open," meaning they're awaiting delivery.

More than likely someone dropped the ball there somewhere. There are a number of places that have been selling the game for several days already.

Finally got a notice that it was shipped last night and when I checked my order this morning it was already on the local FedEx truck so it won't be long now...

Well it finally arrived... but may as well not have <sigh>.
It installed fine but when I try to run it my machine reboots and then locks up with the hard-drive light running continuosly. I have to shut it all down and reboot to get it going again and after I do I get the "This computer has just recovered from a serious error" message.

Do you have SP2 installed?
There have been some problems with the game's SecuROM and SP2.
Make sure you report the problem on the official forums for CotN.
I assume all your video, sound, and CD/DVD drivers are up to date.
The game requires a fully DirectX 9 compliant video and sound card, plus the video card must be able to support Transform and Lighting.
Try using the basic video settings in the game. 16 bit, everything at minimum in the video settings.
Also, try turning off all music and sound in the Settings and see if the game crashes.

All up-to-date with drivers and have been running EQ, which requires Dx9.0c, with no trouble. My vid card does NOT support T&L however so that may be the problem. I can't get to the game settings since I don't even make it to the main menu. I tried uninstalling and can't get that to work either. I click on "uninstall" and the game merely trys to install it again.

Yes, not supporting T&L is most likely your entire problem.
