The Destroyer USS Cole damaged in the bombing last year in Yemen that killed 17 crewman is returning to duty today and sailing for an undisclosed destination.
17 stars have been placed in the gangway deck near the site of the explosion representing the former crewment killed in the attack.

Hello, Just heard about it today as well. They added extra armor to the sides as well They will not make the same mistake the next time some small dingy boat tries to pull next to them again ;D

Ever since the Fauklands War and the British destroyers and frigates with their tissue paper hulls, it's made me wonder what naval designers are thinking of.
I know they want more space for electronics and equipment, but that doesn't "float the boat" if the hull is vaporized by a relatively moderate explosion. I can only imagine what a hit from military ordinace would do to it.
Strange how we always have to learn the lesson the hard way.
